(Missouri) State to honor volunteering veterans

Kirksville, Mo. —

Missouri’s lieutenant governor is looking to recognize Missouri veterans who provide volunteer services to their communities. Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder announced his office is accepting nominations for the Veterans Service Award. “Not only have Missouri veterans given service to their country, but every year many provide countless hours of service to their communities through their volunteer work,” Kinder said, announcing the award. “This award provides an opportunity to recognize those efforts and honor our Missouri veterans.”

Applications must be received by June 30, with each nominee also receiving a certificate of recognition. Fifteen winners from across the state will be recognized and presented an official declaration from the lieutenant governor.

Nominees must have served or be currently serving in any branch of the U.S. armed forces and volunteer a minimum of 25 hours per year.

Nomination forms can be found at www.ltgov.mo.gov under “Veterans Information.”
