Steve Jones, a Life Member of Lincoln County Memorial Post 8828, Troy and is a candidate for the Missouri State Surgeon for the year 2017-2018. A member of the VFW since 2011, Steve has held several offices at the Post level and District Level. He served as Post Commander from 2013 to 2016 and is presently serving as the Sr. Vice Commander to assist the new Commander of the Post. He was an All-State Post Commander all three years and All-American Post Commander for 2013-2014 and 2015-2016; was elected District Sr. Vice Commander for 2014-2015 and
District 9 Commander for 2015-2016. Steve earned All-State and All-American District Commander for 2015-2016. Steve is member of Military Order of the Cooties, Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children, Aide de Camp 2014-2015 and member of the Troy American Legion Post 94.
Comrade Jones served in the US Navy from 1974 to 1976, serving on the USS Okinawa LPH 3 as Aviation Boatswain Mate (ABH). His overseas service includes service in Vietnam 1975. His awards include Vietnam Service Medal w/1 bronze star (Operation Frequent Wind), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Operation Eagle Pull, Humanitarian Service Medal w/1 bronze star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Medal. October 21, 1986 Comrade Jones joined the Missouri Air National Guard and served till April 01, 1991.
Steve worked for Hussmann Corporation from 1979 to 2013 in the Information Technology Department, in 2013 Steve accepted a position with Missouri VFW as a State Service Officer working at John Cochran Veterans Hospital and Jefferson Barracks.
Steve and his wife, Kathy (member of the VFW Auxiliary), reside in Troy and have been married since 1978. They have three daughters, three sons, and 12 grandkids. Their middle Son Cody Served in the Marine Corp, was deployed to Afghanistan and is a member of post 8828. Steve’s oldest granddaughter is serving in the Army National Guard as a Military Policeman and is a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
As Department Surgeon I will advocate for our VA Hospitals and Veterans Home as I have as for the past two years as a State Veterans Service Officer. So I am reaching out to you for your support and vote.
